Historic Stays & Fine Findings is for people who are drawn to older places, well‑made things, and the quiet stories they carry. Here, “findings” can be a room, a chair, a bracelet, or a favorite dress—anything with history, character, and a bit of mystery.

We’ll visit all kinds of stays and settings: small hotels and inns, roadside motels, historic rentals, and private homes that feel like a getaway. Along the way, we’ll look closely at what lives inside them—furniture, lighting, art, jewelry, clothing, and other details that make a space (and a person) feel finished.

Because I’m an appraiser, some posts will touch on value and longevity: what tends to hold value, what surprises me, and how condition, provenance, and design history affect today’s market. Others will be lighter: a quick interview, a peek at a renovation, a house recipe, styling notes, or a bit of history or trivia picked up on the road.

Not everything featured here will come straight from a hotel. Some pieces will be pulled from private estates, auctions, and designers’ catalogs, especially when a room, outfit, or piece of jewelry fits the spirit of the blog. Sometimes I’ll focus on one object or look; other times on a whole property or the person behind the design.
